Meet Monika, the blue eyed Canadian set to stun Australia with her striking good looks, and love of our local culture.

ASM: Hi Monika, thanks for being here. How are you?
Monika: I’m good thank you, thanks for having me.

ASM: You’re of Polish-Canadian background, how long have you been in Sydney?
Monika: [Thinks] hmm… about three years. I have been going back and forth between Australia and Vancouver, but I love it here. I always wanted to visit and be in Australia.

ASM: Really, how come?
Monika: Well, it’s kind of something I always wanted to do. I spoke to a lot of people that had travelled to Australia, I read a lot about the country and I loved the idea of living on the beach – back home it’s not as good and it’s just cold. So it felt right to come here. Deep inside I always knew it would just happen; it’s what I’d end up doing regardless.

ASM: But do you miss home?
Monika: Definitely. I miss my parents more than anything, especially since we’ve always been a very close family and I am really going to miss the Christmases without the snow; it’ll be very weird for me to have a Christmas without snow.

ASM: Can’t be that strange? Can it?
Monika: Yeah for sure. Christmas back home always has at least three feet of snow and at least minus 30 degrees Celsius. It is just the way it is and I grew up with that and for me it won’t feel as festive if all that is not there. I might have to just travel back home for the season, but that’ll turn out to be very costly [smiles again].

ASM: Fair enough, now how did modelling come about?
Monika: [Cheeky smile] I was actually discovered in my year book [laughs].

ASM: Hmm, sounds interesting? So what happened?
Monika: Well, I actually got a phone call from a modelling agent in Vancouver who had seen a photo of me in the 10th grade year book and I was in.
